One Direction and The Wanted have been painted as rivals since both British boy bands attempted their American takeovers at the same time. So would they ever try to prove to the world that they don’t hate each other by collaborating on a song together?
Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Tom Parker, Nathan Sykes, and Jay McGuiness have been battling comparisons to 1D for some time now, and the guys keep pointing out that they’re different because their fan base isn’t just teen girls and that their tunes are a little bit raunchier than the super-sweet songs of Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan. And that’s precisely the reason why The Wanted will never collaborate with One Direction.
During an interview with AOL, Max George put it this way:
“I don’t know where we’d draw the line as to say … you know where we’re allowed to make sexual innuendos where I’m guessing they wouldn’t.”
Siva Kaneswaran went on to say that a collaboration wouldn’t work simply because “no one wants to listen to a crowd sing.” He does have a point – there’s a reason that most boy bands don’t have more than six members. It’s harder for big groups of guys to harmonize, and if every guy took a turn singing a verse, that would have to be one pretty long song.
But while the guys in The Wanted think that their use of sexual innuendo in songs like “Glad You Came” makes them totally different than One Direction, there is one thing that they have in common with 1D – crazy fans.
According to Siva Kaneswaran, one fan hid inside a box for hours just to meet him. Siva was switching apartments, so apparently the girl hopped inside a box inside his moving van, hoping to pop out and surprise him once she got carried inside his place. Unfortunately Siva was not impressed with her plan; he complained that the girl stank and was sweaty. However, he was a good sport about the incident; he took a photo with the fan and sent her on her way. Hopefully this story doesn’t give any Directioners any ideas – hiding in a box inside a moving van is a wee bit crazier than throwing carrots at Louis Tomlinson, sending Harry Styles underwear and bras, and dressing up like 1D.
So are you disappointed that these two British boy bands probably won’t ever collaborate?

There they go again, assuming the boys are goody-twoshoes… Have they heard “Everything About You”? It’s stuffed with sexual innuendos and they boys wrote them all themselves, so they can chill with that. All I know is they would be lucky if the boys ever wanted to do a collaboration.
